THE CENSUS GROWS ON FRIDAYS

Friday State.

A NEW YORKER on a token is a stack of finished states, and the stack grows. New states land on Fridays. This page is the schedule.

Dates are the artist's published intent and can move. Nothing already on a token is ever removed.

Already appended

What is on the tokens today. On THE CENSUS RELEASE the states live in each token's metadata and viewer: click the art to step through them. On KEYSTONE they are ERC-7160 states the holder pins.

States are pre rendered to token 1000 so a New Yorker minted today arrives with its stack. Tokens 1001 to 1111 carry the painting alone until their batch is rendered.

The next four Fridays

  1. 1

    ANIMATED

    THE CENSUS RELEASE
808 census tokens queued, newest minted first

The painting itself moves: a five second loop with the VHS inside, first frame equal to last, so it never stops.

  2. 2

    BOOTLEG

    KEYSTONE
    13 Keystone tokens

The Canal Street bootlegs: the knockoff of each New Yorker the city would sell off a folding table, appended as a state of its own.

  3. 3

    CARD

    KEYSTONE
    Every Keystone with one

The census closes at 11:11 AM ET, and the trading cards, movie posters and memes that only lived on the site go onto the tokens.

  4. 4

    THE CATCH UP

    THE CENSUS RELEASE
Every census token minted after 1000

Everyone counted in the last week gets the full stack: MOSH, MOSH LOOP, DITHER and PIXEL.

Dates are the artist's published intent and can move. Nothing already on a token is ever removed.

How pinning works

A Keystone is an ERC-7160 token on Transient Labs: one token, a stack of finished states, and the artist can append to the stack after you own it.

The holder pins the state that shows, from their own wallet on transient.xyz, and can move the pin any time; a state is never taken off the stack.

Census New Yorkers mint as standard tokens on OpenSea and can be evolved into dynamic ERC-7160 tokens that hold several states, so the same Fridays reach them.
